Die Ingeborg-Bachmann-Kuppel ist eine begeh- und bespielbare Skulptur, die sich als Hommage an ihre Namensgeberin in den öffentlichen Raum stellt. Sie soll als Sonde die Strömungen der Gegenwart detektieren und zum Reflexions- und Begegnungsort unterschiedlicher Kunstformen werden.
Als Objekt fragmentiert sie mit ihren Spiegeln die augenscheinliche Gegenwart – sie weist mit ihren optischen Umbrüchen auf das Neue, noch Unbekannte. Als magischer Reflektor lädt sie ein, die Wirklichkeit neu zu sehen und mit ihr zu interagieren. Die Kuppel wird von zwölf Säulen getragen, um die sich zwölf beidseitig verspiegelte Tore drehen. Die variablen Spiegeltore können den Raum umfangen oder öffnen. Verspiegelte Buchdeckel bekleiden die Kuppel in zwölf Segmenten, die für die zwölf Stunden des Tages und die zwölf Stunden der Nacht stehen – ein Verweis auf die gestundete Zeit.
Die Ingeborg-Bachmann-Kuppel soll an kulturell virulenten und gesellschaftlich relevanten Orten gegenwärtige Themen mit allen Formen der zeitgenössischen Kunst bearbeiten. Jedes Jahr „landet“ die Kuppel an einem anderen Standort – sie interagiert mit dem kulturellen Geschehen vor Ort und definiert einen neuen künstlerischen Standpunkt im Alpen-Adria-Raum und darüber hinaus. Schon die Positionierung soll im Zusammenspiel mit den ortsspezifischen Gegebenheiten ein Statement sein.
Ein Festival der Projekte wird im Sinne von Ingeborg Bachmann neue Ideen und innovative Formate in die öffentlichen Räume tragen – vielsprachig, divers und am Puls der Zeit.
Die Ingeborg-Bachmann-Kuppel verändert ihr Erscheinungsbild mit der Tages- und Jahreszeit – sie ist wetterfest, zerleg- und transportierbar. Die Edelstahlspiegel sind robust und außenraumtauglich.

The Ingeborg Bachmann Dome is a sculpture that can be walked on and played with, which places itself in public space as a homage to its namesake. As a probe, it is intended to detect the currents of the present and become a place of reflection and encounter for different art forms.
As an object, it fragments the apparent present with its mirrors – with its optical upheavals, it points to the new, the still unknown. As a magical reflector, it invites us to see reality anew and to interact with it. The dome is supported by twelve columns, around which twelve mirrored gates rotate on both sides. The variable mirrored gates can enclose or open the space. Mirrored book covers clad the dome in twelve segments, representing the twelve hours of the day and the twelve hours of the night – a reference to time deferred.
The Ingeborg Bachmann Dome is intended to address contemporary issues in culturally virulent and socially relevant locations using all forms of contemporary art. Every year the dome “lands” at a different location – it interacts with local cultural events and defines a new artistic standpoint in the Alps-Adriatic region and beyond. The very positioning is intended to be a statement in interaction with the site-specific circumstances.
In the spirit of Ingeborg Bachmann, a festival of projects will bring new ideas and innovative formats into the public spaces – multilingual, diverse and with its finger on the pulse of the times.
The Ingeborg Bachmann Dome changes its appearance with the time of day and season – it is weatherproof, dismountable and transportable. The stainless steel mirrors are robust and suitable for outdoor use.
